Technical Specifications - LeepCore™ Steel SIP

Overview

  • Structural Insulated Panel (Steel SIP) …
  • Roll-formed geometric coated steel with foam core
  • 24-inch wide panels
  • Custom cut up to 12 feet in height (up to 30’ design under development)
  • Peerless core/skin interface bond, unbroken in 10 years of testing
  • E-72 load-bearing frameless tongue and groove construction
  • High speed erection
  • Tested to meet category 5 hurricane winds
  • 2.5″ x 4″ integral roll-formed channel
  • R-25+ insulating value; no other vapor barrier or insulation required
    • Note: 75% of thermal energy is lost through frame members. LeepCore load-bearing walls do not require frames, eliminating thermal bridges that are common to wood and metal frame construction.
  • Full weather envelope thermal break
  • Highest strength-to-weight-ratio of any structural building component
  • Lightweight, only 3 pounds per square foot
  • Water impermeable (including waterproof polyurethane foam core)
  • Termite, insect, rodent, pest, mold, mildew, and rot proof
  • Fire, wind, earthquake, corrosion, acid, chemical resistant
  • Design agnostic : deploy factory baked polyester coating with deep embossed stucco pattern, or can accept any cladding or finish
  • Formaldehyde free
  • Near zero maintenance
  • High resiliency (bends but does not break – failure is not catastrophic – returns to form after loads are removed)
  • Highly sound abating, with optional soundproof deployment

Steel Skin

  • G-40 Zinc Galvanized Coating (Zero Spangle)

      • .2 Mil Primer plus .8 Mil Regular
    • Bottom/Inside – 0.5 Mil White Polyester Coat
      • .2 Mil Primer plus .3 Mil Regular
  • Skin Thickness: 0.019” +/- 0.0015”
  • Split Widths:
    • Top: 30.87” +/- 0.0625

    • Edge Wave: 0.125 inches in 12 ft.
    • Oil Canning: None
    • Mill Edge: Painted and Free of Burrs

Foam Core

Class 1, two component, co-blown modified polyurethane foam system, as tested by UL 723 (ASTM E – 84 Tunnel Test), with the following characteristics:

  • 4″ Polyurethane Foam Core
  • Compressive Strength (ASTM D 1621) @ 2.2 lb./cu. ft.
    • Parallel to Rise – STR 10% 23.08 psi (avg.)
    • Perpendicular to Rise – STR 10% 20.62 psi (avg.)
  • Thermal Conductivity (ASTM C 518). K Factor = 0.130 (avg.)
  • Dimensional Stability (ASTM D 2126) @ 28 days, avg. volume change:
    • 70 deg. C / 100% Humidity – 3.7%
    • 100 deg. C / Ambient – 1.8%
    • -30 deg. C / Ambient – 0.1%

Structural Performance

Composite structure capable of withstanding ultimate loads and deflections, as per ASTM E-72, as follows:

  • Average Transverse Load (wall)
    • Ultimate – 139 lb./sq. ft. (positive), 113 lb./sq. ft. (negative)
    • L/180 – 64 lb./sq. ft. (positive), 61 lb./sq. ft. (negative)
  • Average Transverse Load (wall, negative direction)
    • Ultimate – 185 lb./sq. ft.
    • L/180 – 110 lb./sq. ft.
    • L/240 – 86 lb./sq. ft.
    • L/360 – 60 lb./sq. ft.
  • Average Transverse Load (floor)
    • Ultimate – 395 lb./sq. ft.
    • L/180 – 202 lb./sq. ft.
    • L/240 – 160 lb/sq. ft.
    • L/360 – 105 lb./sq. ft.
  • Average Axial Load (wall)
    • Ultimate – 6,313 lb./linear foot of wall
  • Average Racking Shear Load (In-plane)
    • Ultimate load (lbs.) – 9,033
    • Ultimate Load (lbs./linear ft.) – 1,506
    • Load at 1/8” net deflection (lbs.) – 5,349
    • Load at 1/8” net deflection (lbs./linear ft.) – 892
